02 / YOUR FABRICATION BRIEF
What to send for a useful quotation
Cut-to-size granite panels translate a project layout into identifiable finished pieces. For paving, cladding or interior work, send a numbered cutting schedule alongside the current drawings. Material, dimensions, face treatment and packing groups should describe the same pieces so the quotation can be checked line by line.
A numbered cutting schedule
List each piece mark, length, width, thickness, units and quantity. Identify repeated sizes, special shapes and the drawing revision. Show layout direction and distinguish finished stone dimensions from joint or installation allowances.
Faces, edges and acceptance criteria
Mark exposed faces and edges, the finish on each, and any drawing-defined holes or grooves. State required tolerances and project testing separately. Fixing design and installation requirements need confirmation with the responsible project team.
Colour groups and packing sequence
Identify adjacent panels that need coordinated colour selection. Specify labels and packing groups by area, floor or installation sequence, with matching packing-list references. Agree the inspection records and destination before the order is finalised.
Questions before you specify this range
Can a floor plan replace the cutting list?
A plan helps explain the layout, but it may not state each stone's finished size, thickness, quantity or edge treatment. Send both where available and identify unresolved dimensions. Confirm a single drawing revision and cutting schedule before production is agreed.
Does choosing a flamed finish specify slip resistance?
A finish name describes a process, not a verified performance rating. For a project with slip-resistance requirements, state the applicable test and acceptance criteria and request relevant evidence for the proposed material and finish. Do not infer compliance from a photograph.
