What to send for a useful quotation
A memorial order may include a headstone, base, kerb set or several matching components. Describe each part and its relationship to the others. Dimensioned drawings, the approved material reference and separately checked inscription artwork make the quotation and later approval process easier to compare.
Component drawings and quantities
Give each component a reference with dimensions, thickness, quantity and orientation. Show profile sections, adjoining surfaces and any drawing-defined fixing details. Identify sets that must remain together for checking and packing.
Inscription and decorative artwork
Supply exact lettering, language, layout, scale and any decorative drawing. Mark which areas are to be worked and the intended finish. Ask for artwork and spelling to be explicitly approved rather than inferred from a reference photograph.
Matching and destination requirements
Compare the proposed colour and finish across the complete set, including exposed edges and bases. State labelling, packaging and destination requirements. Confirm site rules and installation arrangements with the responsible local parties.
Questions before you specify this range
Can an existing memorial be used as a design reference?
Reference photographs help explain the shape and appearance, but should be accompanied by dimensions, component drawings and authorised artwork. Identify which details are to be reproduced and which differ; do not treat scale or lettering in a photograph as a final specification.
How should a multi-part memorial be specified?
Give every part its own number and include an assembly reference showing how the set relates. Mark matching colour groups, worked faces and packing groups. Agree inspection and identification against the same component list before dispatch.
