02 / YOUR FABRICATION BRIEF
What to send for a useful quotation
Steps, kerbs, mouldings and architectural details need a brief that describes the shape in more than one view. Start with dimensioned plans and sections, then mark exposed faces, repeated pieces and adjoining components. Qijia Stone can review the requested work against that brief before scope and feasibility are agreed.
Plans, sections and critical dimensions
Show length, width, thickness, profile sections, curves, radii and transitions where relevant. Identify holes, grooves and returns. A reference photograph explains appearance; dimensioned views define the shape being quoted.
Visible surfaces and matching pieces
Mark the finish for every exposed face and edge, and identify adjoining or mirrored parts. State the desired colour grouping and sample approval requirements. Call out carving or lettering separately from the basic component shape.
Piece schedule and acceptance
List quantity by component number and drawing revision, including repeated and one-off parts. Propose tolerances, inspection and packing groups for review. Confirm material availability, processing feasibility and timing for the final specification.
Questions before you specify this range
What extra information is needed for curved stone?
Show the curve in a dimensioned plan and the profile in section, with radius or other defining measurements and the relationship between adjoining segments. Clarify whether dimensions refer to the inner, outer or centre line. A photograph alone leaves these relationships uncertain.
Can a sketch be used for an initial enquiry?
A marked-up sketch can help start the discussion if it includes overall dimensions, quantity, material and finish. Label unresolved measurements. The final drawing revision, critical dimensions and scope still need agreement before production is confirmed.
